Nova Scotia Headquarters – Canadian Green Building Awards – Commercial Project

Nova Scotia Power, Atlantic Canada’s first LEED Canada Platinum certified building, is a once derelict coal power plant turned into modern office space for 600 people.

MMM Wins Two SAB Magazine Awards

MMM Group projects recently took home two 2013 Sustainable Architecture & Building Magazine awards. UniverCity Childcare and Nova Scotia Power Headquarters were among the eight projects selected by an elite team of judges as prime examples of Canadian sustainable design.

Nova Scotia Power, Atlantic Canada’s first LEED Canada Platinum certified building, is a once derelict coal power plant turned into modern office space for 600 people. The mechanical system includes heat pumps that use the harbour water to heat and cool the building, a rainwater cistern for wastewater conveyance, and chilled beams. MMM provided LEED services for this facility. The jury’s comments included: “These broad ambitions were reinforced with impressive energy performance, good use of natural light and an innovative envelope upgrade.”
