Wawakapewin First Nations Project Wins CEO Award
At the recent Consulting Engineers of Ontario gala in Toronto, MMM’s Wawakapewin First Nations Project was awarded an Award of Merit. The Firm’s Enermodal Engineering team completed a generating station retrofit, and designed a photovoltaic system for the remote First Nations community.
“Almost 600 kilometres north of Thunder Bay is Wawakapewin, a First Nations community accessible only by air and winter ice roads. Until recently, only two diesel-powered, 125-kilowatt generators supplied power to Wawakapewin. The problem? The generators shut down during the summer, due to low-load conditions. The community hired Enermodal Engineering, a member of MMM Group, to determine a solution.” Read the rest of the article and find out how Enermodal helped the community save 14,300 litres of diesel a year in Accolades Magazine.
