On a cold and dreary day in September, MMM Ottawa participated in the 9th Plane Pull Challenge at the Ottawa Airport.
Combating grey skies and downpours, the team rallied together and successfully pulled a 200,000 lb Boeing 767 across twelve feet of tarmac in less than ten seconds.
Live music, exhilaration, and rain of course, filled the air as the team gathered on the tarmac. Pulling the plane itself was tricky. It required a good grip on the rope, and teamwork to build momentum and maintain it while walking backwards in the rain. Lauren Nowak proudly proclaimed “Despite the poor weather, I had a lot of fun hanging out with my work mates. It was very rewarding to be able to tell my friends that I pulled a Boeing 767. This event was a great way to get to know people from various departments around the office; including our newest MMM family members, LPS”.
Benefitting Project Clear Skies and the Sens Foundation, proceeds from this year’s event totalled $50,000. Project Clear Skies, the Ottawa International Airport Authority’s charitable giving program, provides funding for capital expenditures to Ottawa-Gatineau charities. The Sens Foundation is committed to ensuring kids are given the opportunity to be active and engaged, investing in initiatives that promote physical and mental wellness.
