Steve Kemp, Manager, Buildings – Sustainability, recently spoke at the National Institute of Building Sciences conference on Building Enclosure Science and Technology (BEST4), April 12 – 15, in Kansas City, Missouri.
Building industry professionals looking to share information on specific aspects of building systems designed for high energy efficiency, good indoor climate, and long-term performance attend this annual conference. This year’s focus was on “Performance Driven Architectural Design”, specifically the performance of the building enclosure in the framework of full-building performance.
Steve’s session, Form vs. Function discussed the intersection between enclosure design and mechanical systems. Covered also, was how mechanical designers evaluate design options with respect to envelope performance, and will strive towards new rules of thumb.
