Two MMM Group Limited (MMM) lighting projects, the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) Central Plant and the Translink Headquarters, were recently acknowledged by the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES), each receiving an Award of Merit.

Awarded annually, the IES Illumination Award of Merit recognizes professionalism, ingenuity, and originality for commendable contribution to lighting design.

As part of the BCIT campus upgrade plan to modernize aging facilities, MMM provided electrical engineering and lighting design for the BCIT Central Plant Building SE08 Envelope Renovations project, in Burnaby, B.C.

MMM provided electrical engineering, and lighting design for the new 190,000 ft2 Translink Headquarters Corporate Office, in New Westminster, B.C. Consolidating previous offices, including the Transit Police, the design objective was to provide a contemporary, transparent, and sustainable work environment for occupants. MMM’s lighting concept emphasized transit connections with linear lights in specified spaces. Receiving a high score, the design qualified for further consideration for a Citation Award, an Award of Excellence, or an Award of Distinction; final judging takes place in conjunction with LIGHTFAIR International, in the fall of 2014.
