Meiric Preece, Senior Project Manager, Project Delivery, was recently recognized at the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia (APEGBC) 2015 President’s Awards with the award for ‘Meritorious Achievement’. This award celebrates those that have shown exemplary professional, technical, and community contributions as APEGBC members.
Meiric’s notable career spans more than 30 years, shaping him into a highly respected, knowledgeable technical expert in his field. His key career achievements include being a major contributor in developing light rapid transit throughout Metro Vancouver, and the award-winning, highway bridge project, the Tsable River Bridge on Vancouver Island.
Giving back to the profession has been, and continues to be a big part of Meiric’s life, by giving lectures at British Columbia’s Institute of Technology and the University of British Columbia, and through presentations to various groups including the Vancouver Structural Engineers Group, the American Concrete Institute, and Western Canada Group of Chartered Engineers. When asked what he is most proud of, even with all of his accomplishments and successes, he answered with “helping young engineers grow and become good engineers”
