For the third year in a row, MMM Edmonton team members participated in the Edmonton Row for Kids event to raise money for the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation and the amateur sports programs at the Edmonton Rowing Club. Held on the North Saskatchewan River, this was the 10th anniversary of Row for Kids.
The MMM team raised more than $16,000 to contribute to the overall event total of $180,000, which will support the research and treatment of children’s health issues as well as rowing programs that support the development and self-esteem of youth in the community.
MMM showed its enthusiasm by again entering two boats in the race. Subdivide, in white, and Conquer, in red, were made up of new and returning rowers, with 10 of the 19 crew members participating for a third time. The two teams developed a healthy competition as they practiced for the two months leading up to the event. The training paid off, as – coincidentally – the teams tied for the second-fastest heat time during the race; just five seconds behind the best time.
MMM is taking another step in its commitment to the Row for Kids next year, as it will be the organizing sponsor.
