Paul Nimigon, MMM’s Vice President, Rail Transportation has been elected as President of the Canadian Association of Railway Suppliers (CARS). Paul has been a member of the CARS Board for a number of years, and has participated in advocacy programs along with the association’s Freight and Transit councils.
CARS is the only national trade and advocacy association representing freight rail and transit suppliers. Incorporated in its current form in 1991, it is a member-driven organization representing more than 130 companies that supply products and services to railways and transit agencies domestically and internationally.
The rail supply industry today is a large, dynamic, and growing community in Canada with more than 60,000 employees providing domestic and international sales of more than $9B per year; it has a strong reputation for its top quality products and services.
CARS provides a comprehensive suite of programs and services for its members; helping to expand member profiles and business opportunities with the key customers and stakeholders within the rail and transit industries. As an advocacy group, CARS also plays a vital role in helping to influence decisions that are made in Ottawa and in the provinces that affect the rail industry. CARS members and government relations staff meet regularly with members of parliament from all parties, as well as senior policy advisors and civil servants, to inform and deliver a clear message of their need to take an active interest in supporting a growing, vibrant, competitive rail supply industry in Canada.
For more than 100 years, the Canadian railway manufacturing and supply industries have served customers around the globe, not only in the design and manufacture of rolling stock, maintenance of way equipment, signals and communications equipment, and related goods and services; but also with the expertise offered by Canadian consulting engineers, construction companies, and other highly skilled workers employed by the industry
Paul Nimigon and the entire CARS Board of Directors are committed to remaining vigilant in bringing forth its message to Government and continuing to provide value to its members.
