Compass Traffic Operations Centre and Materials Engineering Research Office Labs

  • Two-phase Ministry of Transportation, Ontario (MTO) development
  • First phase involved the design of a two-storey, 20,000-sq. ft. traffic operations centre and a 1,000-sq.ft. aggregate storage building
  • Second phase involved the design of the 79,000-sq. ft. Materials Engineering Research Office (MERO) building and a 7,000-sq. ft. garage
  • The three-storey MERO building includes laboratories, workshops, and administrative / office areas for MTO staff to develop quality standards, policies, and guidelines for materials used in the construction, maintenance, and operation of highways.
  • Garage was specifically designed to store specialty MTO testing and research vehicles
