Georgetown South Service Expansion and Union – Pearson Rail Link Environmental Assessment

  • Beginning as an Individual Environmental Assessment, and following more than a year of public consultation, a Terms of Reference was prepared for the project, and the assessment process subsequently transitioned to the provincial Transit Project Assessment Process
  • MMM Group (MMM) completed the provincial and federal environmental assessments, which included corresponding stakeholder engagement and coordination of input from a variety of technical specialists
  • The provincial assessment was documented in an Environmental Project Report following the Transit Project Assessment Process; the federal assessment was documented in a Canadian Environmental Assessment Act (CEAA) Screening Report
  • MMM prepared the preliminary design for the future GO Transit commuter rail expansion, including three new tracks and major grade separations, as well as allowing for provision of a separate airport link (now known as the Union Pearson Express) from Union Station to west of Highway 427 on GO Rail tracks and on a new spur line into Pearson International Airport
