Heartland Transmission Project

MMM used the latest generation global navigation satellite system, bathymetric, and conventional survey technologies and methodologies to meet stringent accuracy requirements and schedule demands

  • Provided professional geomatics services to support the construction of a new 18-km, 240-kV transmission line and a 65-km, 500-kV transmission line
  • Heartland Transmission Project will connect the Heartland region (northeast of Fort Saskatchewan) to existing transmission facilities in Edmonton
  • Responsibilities included staking right-of-way boundaries and buried facility crossings
  • Conducted a pre-engineering topographic survey for a new substation, and identified proposed new tower centres for geotechnical evaluation
  • Provided siting and layout of steel lattice tower structures for screw pile foundations
  • Prepared final posting of the legal monuments for the new right-of-way
