Highway 427 Extension Individual Environmental Assessment

  • Provided an Individual Environmental Assessment (IEA), under the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act, to investigate existing and short-term transportation issues related to the current Highway 427 terminus, truck traffic accessibility to and from the CP Vaughan Intermodal Facility, and the impact on inter-regional traffic in the Peel – York boundary area
  • IEA involved traffic modelling and forecasting, highway planning and design, transitway planning, natural environment, heritage, archaeology, noise and air quality, alternative assessment, cost estimation, and an extensive consultation program
  • Identified that the Highway 427 corridor would be well-positioned to become a major transit spine, due to the significant nodes to which the corridor connects
  • Recommended alternatives for the technically preferred route, including a transportation corridor consisting of a highway and transitway
