Highway 69, Detail Design Phases

Wildlife mitigation strategy developed to increase and expand passage opportunities for wildlife

MMM provided ecological services for portions of Highway 69 – from Highway 522 to Highway 64, and Highway 69, from New Highway 559 to just north of Shawanaga River.

  • Provided natural environment input to the detailed design of the highway sections
  • Developed, and refined a wildlife mitigation strategy to increase and expand passage opportunities for wildlife, including Species At Risk (SAR), while using specially designed fencing to direct wildlife to structures and restrict access to the highway
  • Design elements include culvert enhancements for fish passage, as well as other augmentations for a variety of terrestrial wildlife
