Mississauga BRT Corridor Landscape and Station Plaza Design

  • Involved in the implementation of a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system, an 11-km dedicated bus lane containing eight barrier-free stations, along the corridor between Hurontario Street and Renforth Drive in Mississauga, Ontario
  • Completed landscape design guidelines for the entire BRT corridor, preliminary design development for BRT west and east, detailed design for BRT east, landscape tender and construction package, and construction administration
  • Concept design included innovative features such as planting trees in paving to provide microclimate and reduce heat island effect, directing surface / rooftop runoff to trees and plants, providing formal outdoor seating, and installing angular paving and planters to visually define the space without impeding pedestrian circulation and flow
