One of British Columbia’s largest ever capital investments in healthcare
The 34,556 m2, eight-storey critical care tower expansion to the Surrey Memorial Hospital will deliver significant improvements to patient care in Surrey. The P3 project also created more than 3,270 construction-related jobs.
The new tower will serve as the new main entrance for the hospital campus. Building massing includes two levels of parking, eight levels of occupied floor area, a mechanical penthouse, and a rooftop heliport. It provides emergency services, intensive care, a 48-bassinette neonatal care, medical / surgical in-patient services, a 78-bed hemodialysis and neurology unit, a laboratory, a pediatric pharmacy, respiratory therapy, UBC clinical academic campus, and administration space. Certified for operation by Transport Canada, the rooftop heliport is used for patient transfer, primarily for the neonatal critical care unit.
